About this resource

Fatigue is more than feeling tired and drowsy. At work, fatigue is a state of mental and/or physical exhaustion that reduces your ability to work safely and effectively.

This resource by WorkSafe Queensland identifies the short-term and long-term signs and symptoms of fatigue (e.g. falling asleep at work, poor concentration, poor judgement or decision making, effects on health). It also explains the four-step process for managing the risk of fatigue:

  1. Identify hazards and risks.
  2. Assess risks.
  3. Control risks.
  4. Review control measures.

You will find guides, codes of practices and other resources to help you manage the risk of fatigue in your workplace.
