Comcare’s purpose is to promote and enable safe and healthy work. 

Comcare monitors and enforces compliance with the Work Health and Safety Act 2011 for around 400,000 workers and 200 employers across Australia. This legislation covers all work health and safety hazards and risks, including psychosocial hazards that can affect workers’ mental health and wellbeing. 

The agency also administers the Comcare workers’ compensation scheme, and is the claims manager and insurer for Australian Public Service entities. This includes claims for work-related mental illness and injury.
