Mental health challenge

Definition

A mental health challenge can reduce a person’s cognitive, emotional or social abilities, but not to the extent that it meets the criteria for a mental illness diagnosis. These challenges can result from life stressors and often resolve with time or when the individual’s situation changes. A mental health challenge may develop into a mental illness if it persists or increases in severity.
