About this resource

Traumatic events can happen in workplaces, e.g. threats to life, incidents and assaults, or witnessing or experiencing serious injuries. Preparing for and managing these events means workers are supported early, which in turn can help to prevent further psychological harm and identify and manage psychosocial hazards at work.

This resource from SafeWork NSW outlines a 4-step process for managing these events:

Step 1: Before an event (prevention / planning)

Step 2: During

Step 3: After

Step 4: Ongoing support.

It also provides information on where to get more help (specific to New South Wales).
