About this resource

The framework provides information about the range of programs and practices required to effectively promote the mental health of police and emergency services personnel and reduce suicide risk.

Developed by Beyond Blue in collaboration with a range of Australian agencies and experts, the framework:

  • Encourages a strategic and integrated approach to mental health
  • Offers an evidence-based framework of preventative measures
  • Identifies key principles for creating mentally healthy workplaces
  • Provides practical guidance on how to develop or check an existing strategy.

This framework is not intended to be prescriptive but it highlights there are issues that every agency can and needs to address, with common, core actions that work.
